The new poster is called The Awakening and features a skeleton with a butterfly landing on it's hand.
Godmachine has created a gorgeous image; a stunning juxtaposition of beauty and unseemliness, peace and horror, darkness and light, dusk and dawn,and ultimately life and death!
The symbolism of butterflies is very interesting and varies from culture to culture. The ancient Greeks believed that butterflies were human souls from the recently departed. In China, the butterfly can mean both marriage and immortality. Many Native Americans see the butterfly as a symbol of rebirth after death.
The concept of the human soul, immortality and even reincarnation are common beliefs accross cultures.
In this artwork, the skeleton is long deceased, but awakened by the butterfly. It's eyes appear as if acknowledging it's presence. The butterfly has been looking for it's lost love for a longtime. Two lost souls, reunited at last.
